The Linear Rational Collocation Method for the Numerical Solution of the 2D Wave Equation

Abstract We use the linear rational pseudo-spectral method for numerically solving the 2D wave equation with absorbing boundary conditions. We compare these methods with the pseudo-spectral Chebyshev method as well as the domain-stretching methods presented by Renaut and Froehlich. As the latter, the linear rational pseudo-spectral method is much less unstable than the classical pseudo-spectral Chebyshev method. This is joint work with Richard Baltensperger, University of Fribourg.
