Scaling Limits, Hydrodynamics and Kinetic Numerical Simulation of a Relaxation-Time Operator

Abstract In this talk I will discuss different regimes for the the linear relaxation time operator in 1-D in the parabolic band approximation. We obtain different drift-diffusion type or hydrodynamic systems depending on the scaling. We apply this analysis to approximate numerically the kinetic system in two different n+-n-n+ devices. We show comparisons of the results for different systems and we discuss the right choice of the hydrodynamics codes for each case.
