Numerical differentiation and Peano kernel functions
Abstract
The determination of numerical differentiation formulae is reviewed and the
behavior of the associated Peano kernel function is investigated. It is
shown that this function vanishes at most once within the interval of the
points used for the differentiation, a fact which is used to obtain a
simple bound on the residual.
